Ma Ma Creek Day Walk - Sat 11th Aug

Walk Leader Barry Collier
Contact Details 46309702
Rating M34
Travel Distance ?
Start Time Picnic Point at 9.00am
Details This will be a combined trip with Bushwalkers of Southern Queensland (BOSQ) and Gold Coast Bushwalkers.

We will be walking along a small section of the Bicentennial National Trail, which runs from way up in north Queensland down to Healesville in Victoria.

The walk will be mostly downhill, starting near Mt Prosper Station, on the range south of Preston. The top section follows a minor creek gully to Ma Ma Creek, then follows this creek downstream to the Gatton-Clifton (or Heifer Creek) Road. The Ma Ma creek section is quite pretty, going through sandstone gorge type country, with mostly shady walking and a few creek crossings. Don’t expect to get your feet wet, given the lack of recent rain. The track should be clear and easy walking, as some 800 mountain bikers use it each year as part of a marathon bike race out of Toowoomba.

We will meet at Picnic Point at 9.00am, for a quick morning tea with the people from Brisbane and the Gold Coast before travelling south to our starting point.

We will probably hire a bus for the day, to take us to the start of the walk, and pick us up at the end for the trip home.

This will be confirmed and organised at our August meeting.
