Details Vinegar Hill is in the Helidon Hills so this walk is subject to bushfires in the area.

Access is via Seventeen-mile road which goes from Helidon to Ravensbourne.

The walk is initially on a forest track, then we descend on a very steep washed out track to Lilydale Creek. We go up the creek for a while then ascend the other side of the valley past a rock wall amphitheatre which would glisten with water if there was any, then continue steep climbing through some prickly shrubs to a track on the ridge above.

This descent and climb of around 100metres require some bushwalking experience and skill as well as fitness.

Once we have made the top of the ridge we will walk east to Vinegar Hill which we hope will have some wildflowers at this time of year.

If it is pleasant there we will spend some time wandering or just being in the moment. On a clear day we should get views toward the Lockyer Valley to the south. There are also nice views to the north over the next valley and ridges with some nice rock walls.

We return along the ridge on the eastern side of Lilydale creek on a dirt road.

Register at the meeting or call/email us. We prefer to limit numbers to 25.

Meet at Neil street for 8 am departure.

Distance is 75km

Carry minimum requirements as per club guidelines.
This means 2 litres of water, first aid kit, torch, whistle, hat with wide brim, sunscreen, protective clothing and robust footwear. Also smoko and lunch.

We will finish off the walk with a picnic afternoon tea/coffee at the Helidon Park.
