This is becoming like an endurance test but I think that we have finally
nailed a place for us for the weekend.
Girraween was a great idea but unfortunately there will be over 40 students doing their Duke of Edinburgh bushwalking award and they have used up all the remote camping allocation in the park. They will be popping out from behind rocks everywhere!!
So we are going to wander just a bit further down the track and head for Boonoo Boonoo National Park.
Just a beautiful area but at this late stage we will be basecamping with some great day walks. There will be a mixture of both easy and challenging walks depending on your inclination for the weekend. We will probably pop back over the road to Bald Rock NP and walk to South Bald Rock on the Sunday. If you have not been there before (and even if you have) then you will enjoy the great creeks, waterfalls, and wonderful granite country.
You can get more information re facilities, directions, etc from the website: Boonoo Boonoo website
Now the challenge is to secure sufficient campsites for the group as there are no booking requirements being a NSW park.
So we need as many possible to travel down on the Friday to secure sufficient sites for the group.
The camp is accessible by 2WD. So far, Barry and Doona will be travelling down on the Friday.
The directions are on the website if you are not familiar with the area (Getting there).
For those leaving on Saturday morning we will still leave the Neil St carpark at 6am.
The camping fees are $10/night/adult and $7 vehicle day pass. There is a 'pay and display' machine at the park but they ask that you bring the correct change.
Please let me know:
1.if you are coming
2.what time are you coming/or would like to 3.do you require a lift?
4.any queries.
and yes there are fireplaces and they supply wood.
So having considered most of SE Qld during the past few days, hopefully now we have a roosting spot.
Many thanks to Barry, Ian and Adrian for the collective thoughts on whose door to knock on next.
Cheers
Denise
