Glen Rock is situated about an hour
south-east of Toowoomba in the upper
catchment of Blackfellow Creek. I’ll set a few short navigation courses of varying degrees of difficulty which we’ll tackle in small groups. The terrain is quite steep in places and there are patches of lantana but these can be avoided unless of course you become seriously geographically embarrassed. The most challenging exercise should be no harder than grade S65. For those who haven’t participated in these events previously there is always plenty of laughter, often at my expense. By days end we all end up learning something, although not always what we expected to. We’ll depart as usual from the Neil Street car park at 8 a.m. Bring what you would normally for an off track walk plus a compass if you have one. The park isn’t as well managed as it used to be so long trousers or gaiters are essential. A folding table & chairs are useful for studying maps, as are reading glasses.
