Basket Swamp is a beautiful area, flowing
over the Great Dividing Range, a half an
hours drive southeast of Stanthorpe. Just before arriving at Basket Swamp, we pass fantastic places such as Boonoo Boonoo, Bald Rock and Bookookoorara. Starting at Basket Swamp Falls, the walk entails slowly making our way down the creek, rock-hopping from side to side of the creek, enjoying the rock pools and scenery as we go. (So, bring your togs as we’ll definitely have a swim). Late afternoon we will set up camp to enjoy our return walk upstream the following day. Base campers at Basket Swamp Falls will be very busy exploring Woolool Wooloolmi, an aboriginal site, driving down Harrigan’s Lane, seeing the old cemetery site, even climbing Balk Rock whilst in the area. Or, driving to see Boonoo Boonoo falls, or, just exploring Basket Swamp Creek. Medium Grade S66 Meet at the Neil Street carpark, opposite the old Police Station at 6:30am It’s a 200km drive south, taking two and a half hours. Andrew Mills, Esq.
