The crest of the Great Divide from Spicers Gap to Teviot Gap is considered by many to be one of the best walks in S.E. Qld.
On this occasion though I propose to commence the walk from the headwaters of Swan Creek. This eliminates the two most exposed climbs & will also hopefully allow us enough time for a side trip to Steamers Lookout on Sunday.
If you’re a keen pack walker who is confident on steep terrain then I invite you to come along. This may be the hardest walk you’ll ever do (grade S77) but you will be well rewarded for your effort. Above average rainfall lately means water will be easier to obtain but also that the vegetation will be thicker. It’s best not to have items hanging on the outside of your pack.
Numbers at each bush campsite on this walk are limited to a maximum of 8. If more than this are interested & a competent leader is available, then a group could walk in either direction. If you’re not up to the pack walk, consider helping out the pack walkers with transport & walking part of the first day with us. If you’d like to participate but can’t attend the April meeting please ring me beforehand. I need to finalize our bush campsite bookings ($5 per person per night) immediately after this.
