Details Lake Cooby nestles among low hills on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range about 25 Km northwest of Toowoomba.

We meet at the Cobb & Co Museum car park at 7.45am and car pool from there.

To get to Cooby Dam we head north along Ruthven Street to Highfields and turn left just past the service stations. Continue along this road, past the hotel. Then follow the road signs marked to Cooby Dam.

We shall commence our walk from the lower side of the picnic area at the dam wall. We have a gradual climb uphill reaching a solar power radio installation at the top of the hill. The views of the countryside are great! We shall follow some cow tracks downhill eventually meeting up with a lower track. There is a lovely spot to stop for some morning tea along this track. Then it is time to head back, this time via the low walking track. Permission has been sought to access this trail.

For those who would like to stay and have a picnic lunch there are some great facilities in the park (including barbecues). We should return to the Cobb & Co museum by 1.00pm. Please bring a water bottle, morning tea, hat and sturdy walking shoes. It is recommended to wear long sleeves and pants as we shall be walking through some lantana and grassland.
