We do require non members, as well as inexperienced members, to contact the walk leader first to get their approval to attend the clubwalk.

Please advise the activity leader of your experience level in relation to the proposed walk. It will also allow the activity leader to discuss walk and other requirements with you.

Details A long-time favourite with the club, the Boonoo Boonoo area provides a great place to spend the weekend. There are creek walks, ridge walks, views, swimming (now that Spring is here) and rockhopping – something for everyone.

On Saturday I plan a hardish walk and rockhop up the Boonoo Boonoo River, from the crossing down Harrigan’s Lane up the river to Boonoo Boonoo Falls. On the drive in, those wishing to do the walk will drive to the start of the walk, while the others can continue on to the campsite at the falls. We will work out the logistics of car shuttle/transport on the day. The walk offers a few kilometres of pretty creekside ambling, followed by some strenuous rockhopping/scrambling up the gorge to the final climb up beside the falls. Grade M76

On Sunday a pleasant walk up forested ridges to Mt Prentice is on offer, with extensive views from the top of the mountain as the reward for effort. Grade S54

For anyone who would like a lazy weekend at camp, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy a refreshing swim in one of the many inviting rockpools in the river, stroll along some stretches of the river, or laze about on a rock in the sun, reading, sketching, or just observing the wildlife.

Travelling distance is approx 400 km return. Camping will cost $10 per person, plus $7 for the vehicle. Self register on arrival.

We will depart from the carpark behind (northeast side) of Coles in Stennar Street at 7.00am.
